Here is the process of how to create a 3D PDF from Revit model. It works out well when you need to share a design with a client. The only thing is that you need to have Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended version ... http://allaboutcad.com/06/3d-pdf-from-revit-with-adobe-acrobat-pro-extended/

I've never used a 3D pdf but it seems like a nice concept.

I think 3d dwfs are hands down superior to pdfs in every way.

I agree with alabaster.  Especially since you have a database of the elements that you can visually find and manipulate.

Hi everyone, I’d like to update this thread in case anyone would like to give this process a shot. tetra4D just released their  2.0 version of their 3D PDF for Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor, Navisworks, Maya and 3ds Max. You can download a trial at http://www.tetra4d.com/products/plugins/autodesk. It’s a 21 day trial and you don’t need Acrobat to create a 3D PDF. It launches directly into the Add-Ins in Revit or the applications mentioned above.

You can find sample here:  http://www.tetra4d.com/showcase If you want a sample directly from Revit, send me a note and I’ll pass one your way.
