Right i want to show my vertical bracing a hidden line in plan view so i have edited a flat plate family by drawing a dashed symbolic line in its family. when i place the plate with start and end attachment level reference at 0 the symbolic line shows up but when i elevate one of the ends of the vertical bracing the symbolic line disappears. Is there a way to show my symbolic line when my one end of my vertical bracing is elevated higher than the other (as normal bracing is shown) ??? Thank you

I don't have a problem with it with beam families.  So this is a family that you modified and added a symbolic line to..can you attach it so that it can be looked at?

it looks like you're using beam instead of brace. see attach. and it will give you a solid line or dash line depending the direction its going (above level or below level)

You appear to be correct, if the brace is sloped it will not show in a plan view.  However I'm curious to know why you are using the bracing command to see things in a plan view? This function should be used for primarily elevation views, everything else can be done as a beam
