I would make sure of linking and worksets for a project like this.  I wouldn't have everything in one file as that will be way to big so split it up in a way that makes sense to the project..  I would also use hidden line for my visual style unless absolutly necessary as realistic will really slow it down also.

I'm not really big into computer components and not sure how yours compares to this or if you are looking to upgrade (not cheap) this is a system that looks amazing.

  1. Learn to use worksets.  Have different areas of that model in different worksets then only load the worksets you need at the time you are working.  You can do a reduced load at startup and modify anytime.
  2. Always save your project from a single, simple view.  NO TILED VIEWPORTS!
  3. Turn off shading and shadows.  Only turn them on when you need them.

and another thing

it's impossible to take part of the model and move it to another workset  AT ONCE (one selection) like in this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVT74tW2zn0 Cryinggo to 5:30)

beacuse when i pick elements that include wall mullions - it not letting me change the workset (the line WORKSET is getting grey at properties window)

I dont think you understand worksets. Look in your HELP for an explination. Worksets are always in the project but you can turn them on and off as you need

Yes i understand that, but WWHub gave me the idea of using worksets to load just the relevant part of the project each time while leave the irlevant unloaded.

Yes, you can load/unload worksets.

When you go to open your project, there is an option pulldown.  There you can load worsets as last used or specify.   This is the reduced load.

While in the project, you can go to the collaborate/worksets tab and you will find a pulldown there.  You can load/unload worksets here.

Thank you very much i just discovered that pulldown 5 min ago! thank you

so there's no need to save a file for every workset - it doesnot work that way right?

you just save a central file with include the all worksets inside.

and as i work alone on this project - i don't need to creatve local files EVER, just use the central file regularly.

did i get it right?

thank you again!

Just a sec..

i have a problem understanding how it works.

1. How can i know i work on the central file? if the icon "save" is grey (disabled) then i'm on the central file?

2. i cannot just SAVE, only SAVE AS! i used to press CTRL+S every few min - and it doesn't save! i lost an hour of work - twice!

You need to read your HELP on work sharing or you will never get to where you need to be.

READ IT - then come back if you have problems.
