Hi All,

New to Revit (duh), long time cad user with lots of 3d experience in Vectorworks and Archicad, but not in ACAD.

Couple of items frustrating me, probably simple solutions.

1) 2D cut lines? Sophisticated way of controlling views of stairs, but what abt walls in plan? or partial elevations?

2) Arrow heads on leader lines: can't go broader than 90? Heavy end is grayed.  Not avail with open arrows?

3) How to pan without "wheel"?  Coworker said should be able to click-hold scroll button.  Dosen't work, need to be set up?

4) Enter data (length) while drawing line, rect, etc? need to draw item then mod?

5) related: draw rectangle ( or multiple lines selected) then move into plan accurately? The great tools with changable snaps don't show when selected.

6) move my increment.  Once good rectangle is snaped to edge, how to offset object? use copy paste?

7) duplicate in array is awesome! Just a comment Smile

Shadey Best for last: how to show and dimension to RO at doors and wnds? I can edit type to show correct shim space but cant snap dims or show in enlarged plans. What am I doing wrong? (no "face of core"-like option to snap to?)

related: setting large scale (3"=1') and "fine" detail level won't show shim space, casings, good line wt (profiling) around wnd elements.

Also since I'm just getting into it: set casing, sill, apron and other standard wnd configurations? door have casing. T-hold? Missing something?

Sorry for the laundry list! Any pointers greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

TDWorks Smile

You have so many questions - I think you need some training.  I will answer your last one.  If your door family is built correctly, you can dimension to the rough opening.  The reference planes in the family are the key. They have a property called Reference and by setting this property, you specify that the reference plane can be dimensioned to when you place a family in the project.

You can learn more about this by downloading the "Families Guide" from the AutoDESK website. << Do that if you really want to learn Revit.

Yep, need some training Smile

I've found in the past a few well taken tips from folks "in the trenches" always yeilds a lot more than a whole bunch of training manuals and subscriptions to webinar sessions (which I have BTW).

Thx for the info!  Anybody with thought of other items, input greatly appreciated.
