Could someone please advise me on the best way to complete joins between sketched handrails.

I am trying to create a handrail to a stair of an 8 storey building, one side of the stair needs to have a wall mounted handrail and the well side to have a rail handrail.  The stair consists of 4 flights between each level. As the 2 sides of the stair have different types of handrail I believe I have to sketch the handrail.

Where the flight handrail stops and the landing handrail starts I have a really horrible junction.

Is there a way I can connect these handrails? See attachment.

Your wall mounted rail should be one sketch.  You will have to pay attention to the "break" point locations in that linework as that will determine the height above the landing.  You may want to sketch this in a section and add a temporary refernce line so you can locate this break at the proper place in plan.
