I get an error message when importing a DWG base file into Revit 13.  I says it can't open the file, try exploding the drawing in AutoCad and changing the proxygraphics to 1.  I have done this and then saved the file, but it still won't open.  I have also tried to Purge all unused items, but still does not work.  Please help!!!  Thank you.

I pretreat all DWG's before importing them into Revit.

This includes in the following order:

Changing the scale to millimetres (or imperial base units).

Exploding

Overkilling

Deleting anything I dont need in my revit model.

Changing all linework to layer 0

Change all linework to the same colour.

Auditing

Purging

The main aim is make the DWG file as small and simple as possible before you import it into Revit.

If you still have problems, there may be a glitch in the DWG file itself. Try creating a new blank DWG file and copying across the information from the original DWG to the new one. Go through the purge/audit process again before bringing it in.

Alternatively convert dwg to dxf and import that.

Good luck

Hi,

Thank you for all your suggestions.  I did them all and saved the drawing a few times to see what worked.  The last one did the trick coping the content into a new drawing and re-saving.  I think the oringinal drawing was corrupt and I thank you for your help.  Yeah!! Now I get started.  Thank you.
