So I'm about a week or so into switching to Revit from Arch Desktop.  Quick question for you guys about my old cad details....

Should I just start over and "trace" new details into Revit in the drafting view?

I guess basically I have this huge library of typ details I've used over the years in cad.  Let's say I need a footing step, insert and bam it's done.  Are all fo my cad details obsolete now?  I realize that I can bring a cad detail into Revit and explode it but then I have 1000 lines for say insulation hatch from CAD and I really like to try to keep things clean and simple if possible.  I'm just curious, what are my options? What is the best way to go about doing this taking lineweights, color (since my cad deails have color) and all other things into consideration?

Thanks,

West

I pretty much do what I wrote in this previous thresd.

Initially, you may just link in some of your CAD details until you get them cleaned up but be aware that this will cause you grief over time.

duly noted.  Point well taken.  I've decided to just import the detail to "drafting view" and redraw the detail in Revit essentially tracing the cad detail.  I agree and I'm trying my best to keep everything in the office organized and in order with Revit.  Our cad curse is everywhere which is what I'm trying to avoid with the purchase of Revit and a fresh base.  Thanks for the reply WWHub.
