Hi, I'm Justin... and I'm a Noob! I'm a student at the University of New Mexico. Hope you all are well!
I have a question-
Someday, I'd like to be a Project Manager/Construction Manager and would like to utilize the model to attach submittal data, date of installation, inspection reports, specific product/warranty information, etc. to the actual object (say a RTU for example). So that the information is embedded into the model, rather than linked to a URL or arbitrary/cloud file location.
Unfortunately, I cannot find any information regarding attaching these types of documents to a specific object. I've ran across "shared parameters," but that seems to only create a .txt file (which states not to edit it...) to some arbitrary location that I define- which is not an embedded file within the model. For example, it wouldn't recognize the linked information if I was to give the model file to another person with the .txt file path associated with it saved to a location on my desktop- and I'm far from being a programmer...
The reason I'd like to do this is because it would be one deliverable, rather than dumping all the associated information into a file folder, in a cloud, or on a flash drive with multiple files. I'd rather have the associated information attached directly to the object and embedded in the model file. Also, I understand you can attach a URL to an object, but again, it's not embedded within the file.
The reason I ask here at revitcity is because in Navisworks Manage, I can link a URL or .pdf document to an object, but similarly, it is not embedded within the model file.
Is this even a possibility? Or am I crazy to think I could attach specific (.pdf, .jpg, etc.) information directly related to an object into the model, and have it only be one deliverable model file.
Thanks for taking the time to read this! Hope you have a great day!

Yep ... can't do what you want.
Revit is NOT a facility management program and that is what you really need to do what you want.
