REVIT Building Suite 2013

I created a parametric generic cubicle partition (attached) to use on a project.  I created a label to control the length dimension.  I then created the Family Types, 12", 18" 24" 30", etc. in 6" increments.  I locked the length dimension checkbox in each type's dialog box within the family editor.

When it is inserted into the model, I can select what size I need and place it where I want it. Good so far.

The Problem:

  • The length remains editable in the model with the grips, or by typing in a custom size in the properties dialog box and if I use the align took to snap it into place.
  • Once the dimension is customized as above, or even by accident when moving it around, then when I change the type say from 36" to 48" it no longer will change size and it remains at whatever accidental length that was created by aligning it into place.

How can I make the parametric type sizes rigidly control the lengths and NOT have the length dimension be editable in the model?

This is urgent as I'm working against a deadline. Thanks in advance!

Change your Panel Length parameter to a type parameter.  It's currently an instance parameter.

Cool!

OK, a question.  I'd like to be able to schedule the panels to show the inventory by panel lengths.  Is that NOT possible with the TYPE setting?

Thanks

If you want any parameter shown on schedule, that parameter has to be a shared parameter.
