The default elevations are missing in my project (NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, WEST)
I created new elevations but the type for all of them is North (its the only type available)

I tried the 'transfer project standards' from a project that does have the default elevations but it didnt change anything
I'm using Revit 2013

i did that and then tried to remake elevations and now they look like this: http://gyazo.com/922ebf0f8ff5d63714a40b1d2ede02d6
the elevation markers are giant circles instead of box and triangle on the site plan: http://gyazo.com/5058260748ee069a3828f548e046742c
how do i fix this!

All section markers / elevation markers / detail callout markers are the same size in relation to their print size. The plan view you posted looks like a very small scale, that's why the circle is so big.
The default Elevation markers are dependent on what type they are. Exterior are the square, interior are the circle. When you start the elevation, pick the exterior if that's the one you want.
