Does anybody know where to find the setting that allows me to select the default detail title type when inserting a drafting view?  I'm using Revit 2013 for architecture.

Example: I insert a drafting view that is a detail.  No matter what I do to it, the default detail title is for an elevation without any symbology associated with it.  I'm using customized titles for all details, elevations, sections, etc.

This gets frustrating when you're looking at 350+ details per project.

It's a shame, it really should be a property of the view template but it's not.

I am not aware of how (or if you can) set the default 'Title' for a Viewport View or View Type.

WWHub . . . . any insight ?

I don't understand the question. .... really confused....

Insert a view?  You mean copy a drafting view from one file into your file using insert - correct?

If so, then what does this mean? > "... the default detail title is for an elevation without any symbology associated with it...."

The view is placed in your browser with the same name that it had origibnally - then you place it on a sheet.

If you are placing a view on a sheet, then the view tiltle defaults to last used type and view is named by view name.

My nomenclature could have been better.

I'm dragging drafting views onto the sheet.  I want to find out where to change the default for the detail title associated with the drafting view.

I miss wrote earlier - I indicated that Revit defaults to the last title type used.  It does not. If I remember correctly, the default title is the original one that came with Revit.  It has been so long but I believe we modified that original title to our standard one.

Revit's Help kind of indicates you can set what type to use - when - but I don't see any way of doing this.  We just pick the type immediatly after placement.

So that confirms my thoughts. You have to change it after the fact and it SHOULD be a property of a View Type or View Template but its not.

OK, thanks.  Back to changing 350+ detail titles.  Yay for being paid hourly

If you have to change that many, then someone is doing something wrong.  You change on placement - simple two click process then.

BTW - You can cross a sheet of views and filter - you should see viewports in your filter - and change them all at once.
