How would I go about creating steel framing like this at different angles?

I have been trying to use an inplace mass but am very new. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Looks to me like a whole bunch of in=place sweeps and extrusions. Not difficult actually.

And if you plan to create variations thereof I'd maybe create an external RFA family instead. Maybe even break it down into some nested families.

Very do-able none the less.

I would like to create variable families.

Which generic family should I start with?

How do you get steel beams to miter parametrically?

Thanks!!

If you want the most flexible family, you start from a non-hosted template.

If the item will always be attached to something, then maybe you use a face based family.

Wall, floor, roof and ceiling based families are always the most restrictive and can not be used without the proper host.  AND THEY CAN NEVER BE CHANGED!

Face based families and non-hosted families can always be nested into a wall/floor/ceiling.... family later on if needed.

I'm not sure about this, but it seems to me that this can be done with using all OTB Strucutural Steel Tube Column rfa elements.
