Hello everyone!

Currently using Revit Structure V2013

I work for the structural industry and we often need to draw wall panel elevations. This wall panels need to be numbered and under the number tag, we usually add the wall thickness for example t=9 1/4". I've been trying to make my models smarter everytime by using customized tags. Does anyone know how to add a shared parameter to the wall so it displays the wall width automatically?

Thanks.

Yup. Well kind of. . . . you can't have the field for Wall Thickness automatically populate but you can create a field so you can manually add the thickness and then let the tag pick up the value.

Create a shared parameter named Wall_Thickness (Number) , then create a new Project Parameter (Type) and use the same shared parameter and specify the Category 'Wall', then add that Shared Parameter to the tag as well. Total of 3 locations.

Once you add this new Project parameter (Type, Wall Category) you will see that Wall_Thickness property show up under the Type properties of all walls. Then all you have to do is manually add the thickness once for each wll type. Then the tag will pick it up. So if you filled in this Wall_Thickness field for all of your wall types and saved the project as a Project Template file you'd be rocking.

Like they say out in Eastern Canada when asked "Why aren't you working", they answer "Well . . . . . . the works all done !"
