Hi,

I have Revit 2012 & 2013 installed on x64 Win7 machine. Both were working fine (.NET 4.0) until I installed Visual Studio 2012 (.NET 4.5).

Then the ribbon menus went funny and stoped displaying on Revit 2013. I found the latest update did fix this for 2013 but what about 2012?

Has anyone got Revit 2012 to run successfully on Windows 8 or .NET 4.5?

Thanks in advance

4th

Hello,

I am from Microsoft .NET Framework compatibility team. we'd like to understand this better. Can you contact us on netfx45compat at microsoft dot com with exact steps to reproduce the problem? Also, could you send us snapshot of problematic UI?

Sincerely,

Varun Gupta

(Microsoft .NET Framework team)

The recreate is easy:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed

Machine: Not relevant, this has happened on 3 different computers in our office.

Steps:

1.       Install Revit 2012

2.       Install Revit 2013

3.       Install .NET 4.5

4.       Open Revit 2013 or 2012

5.       Open an existing project or new project.

6.       Click on a family in the drawing (window or door not system family) I went with door.

7.       When you click on the door family.

Observe: You should get a series of panels on the ribbon menu that are specific to the door family and what options are available.

Observe: You won’t get the specific panels that relate to the door family. You will get the standard modify panel that apears for all famlies & elements.

I have a pressing project and preformed a system rollback this morning (pre .NET 4.5) that fixed it so I can’t recreate or screen shot, however others have:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Revit-Architecture/Modify-Ribbon-error/td-p/3596030

There is a hot fix that will solve the issue with Revit 2013. However there is no fix to allow Revit 2012 to work on .NET 4.5, that I have found yet.

Cheers
