I only want to show the walls of the of the level that is underlayed. However everything including the doors and components are showing right now. How do I get around this?

An underlay is not a plan view and it abides by no view range altough it can be affected by the local view range if the local view range overlaps the underlay's level.

An underlay is a 3d slice from the level of the plan view you are underlaying up to the next level. By default it should not show door swings and panels or windows because in plan view those default REVIT families use detail lines to be represented and underlays don't show 'detail lines'. If you have custom doors and windows that situation could be different.

In wireframe it will show the door and window openings.

Your solution may be to just hide those elements in the view and be done with it.
