Hello,

I am working in Revit Architecture 2013. My task is to create a door tag that also calculates the egress actual capacity and egress max capacity. I tried following a list of instructions already but I'm afraid I need a more thorough break-down of the process. Is there already a post that describes how to do this in depth? Is anyone willing to write out the steps for me?

Thank you much,

Margaret

I believe that depends on YOUR code.  So I suggest you list what that formula is.

For example, if it is a 36" wide single hinge flush door, it has an egress capacity of 168 (formula=36"-2.4"/.2).

So.... Understand first that in order to be taggable, you have to have a shared parameter. The next thing to recognize is taht in order to be calculated for the tag, the shared parameter has to be calculated in the family.

So here is the process:

  1. In your office's shared parameter file, create an appropriate shared parameter.
  2. Create a parameter in each door family that uses this shared parameter and your formula.
  3. Create a Tag as appropriate.

As you can see, this will be a lot of work.  We preferred to load the parameter in the project under doors.  Then we do the calculation and put that as an instance parameter in the door.  This is then tagged and it can still be scheduled.
