I am using Revit Architecture 2012.  I was using a trial version on an office computer while waiting for my new computer.  I got my new computer today, and had the full version installed.  On one of my projects, components that had been placed before the new version are still visible.  However, if I try to add a new component (and I mean ANY component), it gives a warning (no loss defined), and does not show up.  It will show up in elevations, but wont show up on my floor plan.  Even if I click on an existing, visible component and use "created similar", it still will not show up, even though the original is visible.  I've tried view range, gone through my view graphics, everything.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Found in another post

"The two most common causes for the "No Loss Defined" warnings are fittings in certain conditions do not have loss information either from a table, or specified, and in the other case, there is no flow so there is no loss. The only change that was made for 2012 was that the warning was included under the displayable warnings. I would look at your fittings and make sure there is a loss associated."

A bizarre answer to a bizarre question. a) What part of REVIT architecture uses fittings ? b) what's this got to do with not seeing components when you draw them in a floor plan where other items are showing ?

DG,

I seem to remember having this happen awhile back with a toilet family. I don't remember what I did to get past the problem but I don't have the problem anymore.  That leads me to believe it was fixed in an update.

homer .... have you verified that you have the latest updates installed?

I was simply responding the the "no loss defined" error.  Obviously there is some type of fitting or a family with a fitting in the project that is giving this error.  I don't have an answer for components not showing up.

Fair enough, not knocking your reply. You did manage to track down the actual error. I'd go with the software update. Toilets, sinks and yrnals have connectors but not fixtures or fittings. Only MEP has those components.
