Hi there,

I've got a conceptual mass with a curved profile face that I've divided with a basic vertical grid (no horz). I've build a custom pattern-based curtain panel family that is simply a pane of glass and a triangular roof strut leaning away from it. I can apply this fine to the face, but the final panel doesn't work, it insists on adding a subdivision (I assume because of the inclinded edge. So I deleted the final panel and then manually placed an instance of the same panel family, clicking on the four vertices of the pattern. This almost works except that the triangular strut is flattened down on to the glass.

Any thoughts?? (I'm using Revit 2013)

Cheers

Rob

Ok, so if anyone is interested it seems that the behaviour I was getting (the panel being flattened on to the wall) was because when I was applying the panel manually I had 'Place on Face' selected rather than 'Place on Work Plane'. Using the latter fixed it and the panel placed correctly.

Another tip, when placing edge panels manually, use the 'Surface Representation' toolbar to turn off surface and component views leaving just the Pattern view. This will allow you to more easily snap the new panel to the correct nodes without the geometry of the rest of the panels getting in the way.

Cheers

Rob
