As I understand it, if you want a curved curtain wall with a pattern other than rectangular (hexagonal, for example), you have to apply the pattern to the modeled in place form.  However, you cannot use this object for area calculations.  A curtain system applied to a curved face can show area, but you are limited to a standard grid (as far as I know)

Is there some way to get the curtain system to recognize patterns other than rectangular grids?  I'm mainly looking for something that will allow me to have the pattern I want and the ability to be used in area calculations.  I know I can make the room separation lines myself, but with the shape evolving as the design progresses I figured this would be more efficient.

I'm also using revit 2013.

You need a room separation line, which is easy. The divided surface with curtain pattern will not serve as a room bounding element.
