Does anyone have any tips on importing a Google Sketchup model into Revit?  Any good place to start looking for information?

There are a lot of threads on this here just do a simple search and you will see all of the posts, or even look at the bottom of this page.  Also use your HELP as it explains how to do this.

In a nut shell . . .

  1. Use Revit to create a family.
  2. Import the SketchUp file into the family.
  3. If you created the family outside the project, load the family into the project.

Then you should be able to 'Paint' the family surfaces with REVIT materials for rendering etc.

You can create families as mentioned by dgcad.

Here is the thread for how to control imported SketchUp objects color.
