I'm trying to create a family of Arched windows that have a brick header and a cast sill. In the family I have a reference plane ("brickProtrusion" 3/4" off of the "Wall Edge" r.p. and the solids that represent the brick header is aligned to the "brickProtrusion" r.p. However, when I place this window in a wall it does not put the brick solids 3/4" off of the wall but instead puts it exactly where it is in the family (the wall that the window is being placed in is thicker than the 12" wall in the generic model) so it doesn't actualy protrude through the wall. Any suggestions? What am I missing?
Thanks,
--Carl

In the family editor as stated before....FLEX - FLEX - FLEX.
This includes taking the host wall in the FE (family editor) and duplicating it to a number of different thicknesses. Then swap out the host wall for something thinner and thicker and watch the behaviour. Chances are your RP's are not staying with the wall face and this will become evident when you swap out the host wall thickness in the FE.

How can I ensure that in the future these RPs will stay with the wall edge? Align/Lock? And then that the solids will stay with the RP?
Thanks again,

Same issue, new problem. I'm basically using a copy of a sweep to represent the bricks around the header of the window. When i check for constraint between the different wall types (6" vs 12" only the original sweep will stay aligned even if I go back and lock alignment for all of the copies.
So the good news I've gotten the constraint to work, the bad news is that the constraint only works with 1 of 33 objects.
Thanks again,

Carl,
Without seeing your family it is hard to know what the problems are.
If you are trying to control an array of objects, then it is best to nest that object in to the main family to array.
Is it possible to post the family?

Tom,
Beat ya to it.
For the most part I got what I needed for this project but seeing as I'm still learning I would love some imput and critique.

Let me know what needs to be done to make this a better family. Of course, knowing you probably have less free time than me I appreciate anything you can and are willing to help me with.
As far as the array. I thought about doing that but for some reason it would not let me do a radial array. Haven't figured taht one out yet.
Thanks again.
