Hello all,

short question: Is there any possibility to access the framebuffer for saving a HDR or openEXR?

As you can see here, the framebuffer obviously stores such data and therefore you can adjust the Exposure:

Any help is highly appreciated, thank you!

Regards, Pete

It seems that according to Autodesk this isn't possible. You could try the following as a possible workaround:

1. Render normally.

2. After rendering save multiple tiff files with different exposure values (Try adjusting the exposure and saving an image at every two values between 4 and 14).

3. You can then Merge To HDR in Photoshop and the result is a 32-bit file with high dynamic range. You just have to be sure to assign the proer EV values to each image in the set during Photoshop's merge process.

I just used this method on a storefront rendering for a client to balance out lighting levels and it worked fairly well.

Hope it's helpful to you,

Steve

Hello Steve and thanks for your answer!

Yes, I am aware that such a possibility is existent but unfortunately I really need 'raw' High Dynamic Range data - without tonemapping. It is really a pitty that such an expensive tool like Revit does not offer HDR. Furthermore I have found a lot of bugs while testing Revit so I do not think that my customers and I will spend so much money to buy it.
