I am looking to create a wall hosted family for curved walls which ideally would take on the radius of the host.  I started with using the Generic Model Wall Hosted family template however the default wall is straight and references a straight reference plane.  Is it possible to modify the footprint of this wall or add a new curved host into this family and if so could you explain how to go about it?  One concern I have is that even if it is possible to get a curved host wall I will still be unable to curve my reference plane -  will this be problematic for creating and controlling the extrusion and it's placement in my model?  Are there other ways I should consider going about creating this family?  Thanks!

I am using Revit 2012.

The quick answer is no.  The wall template can not be modified as you ask.

You will not be able to do this in a manner that can read the host.  The curve will have to be inputted.  The family could still be face or wall based.  It will just not look right in the family editor.

This is possible, as an adaptive family with 3 adaptive points, a spline, and an extruded profile. The points of the family are placed on the curve of the wall, and if the wall changes length or radius, the points will adapt to the curved wall.
