Hi!

First post so here we go.....

We're using groups for ceiling mounted electrical symbols like heat detectors, extract fans etc. but when we place them on a plan and then put a setting out dimension to them from a wall, the group 'ungroups'. The following error message is diplayed:

'Changes to groups are allowed only in group edit mode. Use the Edit Group command to change to all instances of a group type. You may use the "Ungroup" option to proceed with this change by ungrouping the changed group instances.'

I've searched previous threads but haven't come across this particular problem. Any help would be much appreciated!

Rob

Hi OzRob390

I just quickly tried out this method to try and understand why your groups are "ungrouping" and I had no dramas with the dimensions or the groups. (refer to attached)

The rectangle in the middle is a simple detail group comprised of detail lines and a filled region, the walls are simple 3D revit walls and the dimensions are standard.

Is it that you are using model groups instead of detail groups perhaps?

You can dimension to any element is a group but YOU MUST ACCEPT THE DIMENSION!  If you change it, you are trying to change an element in the group.
