Hello,

I've only been workting with Revit roofs for a short time.  I am unable to close an upper roof with a lower roof.  See attached file.

Can somebody point me in the right direction how to fix this roof problem?

Also, let me know if this is not the best place to post this question.

Thanks for any help on this matter.

Dave

Rather than a model, an image may have gotten you an answer earlier.

I am not sure if this is what you after. Can't tell where your arrow point to on model. (plans and elev. easlier to read) try edit the upper roof to match the lower roof.

Try the join Geometry command.  It helped me join to different roofs.  However, I have not figured out yet how to turn the 2 roofs into 1 whole solid, so that when I click on it the entire roof highlights.

I was able to join a hip roof to a gable roof by doing the following:

1.- choose roof by extrusion

2.- In skecth mode I skecthed the shape  and hieght of my gable roof( it is important not to have a closed loop when using the extrusion tool).  For the roof by footprint tool you must close the loop. Hopefully this step should solve your problem.

3.- Now that I created a hip roof using the "roof by footprint" tool and created a gable roof using the "roof by extrusion tool", I can now join the hip roof to the gable roof.

4.- I chose the the join the roof command, clicked on the edge of the hip roof and clicked on the edge of the gable roof.  Now both roofs are now joined. Both roofs are joined. However, I have not figured out why when I click on one roof, why both roof don't highlight as 1 whole roof.

If someone can explain to me step 4 further, I would appreciated it.

hopefully this will help you solve this issue. your roof is not on the stairs wall. You also need to extent the stairs wall and edit profile the wall to seal the gap, attached the wall to the roof will not fully seal it.

oh, btw it going to be beautiful design. however, you might like to look into the leaking issue near the stair area. Extending the gable to the hip of the lower roof. create a storage in this pocket space. you will find out as you work on the design. all the best.

I joined a hip roof to a gable roof. But now one side of the gable roof has an trangular opening that I would like to cover with same material as the hip roof. Does anyone know how to do this?

Is this what you are trying to accomplish? (see attached) You need to create the 2 roofs as 1 for it do accomplish what you are attempting.

YES, TeaFoe5 that is exactly what I'm trying to accomplish. How do you make this happen, when the lower hip roof is on the first floor and the upper roof is on the second???

It looks like you have one boundary???  How does this work?

Thanks again for any help.

Dave
