we have narrowed down possible causes and discovered that one of the DETAIL ITEM is causing the attached error

PROJECT:

-type can be deleted, but family deletion will trigger error

-purge unused will trigger error

-loading new/blank family and overriding existing corrupted family will trigger error

-save/reload/edit family will trigger error

-selecting by element ID will trigger error

FAMILY EDITOR:

-selecting all detail line and deleting all lines will trigger similar yet another curropted element error (must be one of the lines)

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

basically, we just need to delete the corrupted family, but we can do anything. any suggestion?

using rollback is not an option because we have done a lot of changes, since the working file... let say 3days of purely updating...

opening the recovery file created upon clicking YES on the attached photo, will tell us to "data in file xxxx is corrupt and needs to be manually recovered. please contact autodesk support.". file will not be opened.

autodesk support, how many months?

using revit 2013

Have you tried re-creating the central file then AUDIT the file?  That may get rid of the corrupt element.

Do you have any add-ins? Pe Autodesk "The most common cause of this issue is 3rd party add-in or extension (such as Elum Tools) writing to the Project Information, which then corrupts it."

Hi Teafoe 5

yes i have tried recreating central file and auditing, this will prompt an error the "data in file xxxx is corrupt and needs to be manually recovered. please contact autodesk support."

yes i have also installed add-ins and extensions and other users doesnt have... but for this particular project i didnt use any of those, and  the detail item is created by someone who doesnt use add-ins nor extensions.

As the error says - contact AutoDESK support.  They have fixed our problems like this in a timely manner.

The same issue occured again with me on a 2016 revit file , i detected the corrupted family and i can make instances of it but when , purging , or deleting family type ,same error show up. The only difference from the old issue is that when i try to modify that family different error shows ( "family name" is corrupt and cannot be edited. please reload the family to repair the project.

i tried audit , too

any help would be appreciated,

thanks
