I have a large building in concept design stage. Please refer the image for an understanding.

Problem#1 -  is keeping the model speedy for everyone working on this. People with lower spec computers cant work on it basically.  The mass forming the skin is an inplace mass with a pattern subdivide mapping a family panel onto it.

Problem #2 - the mass needs be able to be adjusted as the design evolves and hence the use of an inplace mass. but I would very much prefer to be able to work the the external mass family environment where you have 3d work planes etc. and keeps it as a seperate file to be loaded into the main model. only problem with working this was is how to adjust the mass and see the model also. i tried linking the model into the mass family but this option is not available....

Hope all this makes sense and thanks very much to anyone that can help me out on this.

Further to this, we ended up using sketchup! a great tool we always use for concept, but if we could effectively do concept stage in revit would be a good thing indeed.
