hi,
i am designing a building where the beams are visible and not covcered by a suspended ceiling.
i am trying to encase a concrete beam in some sort of timber. how do i do this?
i know i can change the material of the beam itself, but with a section through it does not chow the concrete
hatching, coz it just shows the material i chose for it.
so, i want a section throught the beam to show the concrete, and then maybe some timber around it.
i am only begining to use families, and i have gathered how to use the wall sweep and slab edge sweep.
is there one like this for a beam sweep?
cheers

Create a wall type that is representative of the timber you want the column encased in an just draw it around your column. If you are creating your own column family draw the column and put that on one material then draw the "timber framing" and put that on a different material.

Model it like you would construct it. This will help take you from beginner to intermediate pretty quick. Two walls on the side and a wood ceiling below it to encase it in wood. apply materials to each accordingly.
