Looks good for first time. If you add surface material to the walls and stairs the rendering will jump off the page. I'm assuming you know how to edit the structure of items in order to have them render differently, if not, just ask. If you have a picture you can put it outside the windows, that will bring more life into the scene. Also if you add a person you'll give the rendering a sense of scale.

Thanks. I assume you mean changing the material/colors of the structure. Would there be any advantage to doing it that way as opposed to using paint?

Revit/Accurender lacks any kind of global illumination feature whcih means that if all your light is coming from fixtures placed in the scene it is going to be very dark. You can run radiosity which will help, but Revit does provide a solution called studio lights. They are located in the standard Revit lighting library and are just orbs of light you place in the model to up the illumination of a scene. You might want to try adding a few and seeing the effect.
