Hi guys,

Splitting some of the exterior walls in my project to represent a brick soldier course at their top and bottom - this has worked fine for 90% of the walls - there's a few that seem unselectable by the split face tool, which is frustrating! I hover the tool over the walls, and the blue guide lines show the correct face, but whenever I click it either doesn't respond, or jumps to a nearby face that I don't want to split. They are plain exterior walls, not curved, and often the face the tool jumps to is another face on the same wall (not the one I want though).

Have you experienced anything like this? Solutions?

Thanks!

"....and often the face the tool jumps to is another face on the same wall..."  << Makes no sense.  If working in elevation, you only see the front face.

Click on the wall and temporarily isolate it in view.  Now split it.

A little run-on I agree, but I think it makes sense!

In any case, thanks for the reply - I've tried this is in elevation as you suggested, but cannot select the front face of the wall with the split face tool - the blue guide lines show correctly, but clicking on the face gives no response. Weird?

Process problem.  You have to select the edge of the wall to pick the wall you waill be splitting face.

You mean I'm meant to click the wall's edge rather than 'on' the face of the wall to go into the split face editing mode? Neither works unfortunately.

You need to spend some time with some Revit books and the Revit HELP!

Please read this topic:  Splitting Faces

Thanks WWHub.

Actually the issue was to do with Hardware Acceleration tracking my clicks in a weird way - turning this off solved the problem.
