I am hoping someone can tell me how to create a sweep that is dependant on the wall thickness. What I mean by this is that I have already two sweeps which constitute the window frame. These are fixed and with a particular offset from the facade. There is another sweep which is the interior window sill which is dependant on the wall thickness but I can't figure out how to make that sweep react to the host wall thickness.

Ultimately my intention is to have a single dimension - Offset - which will in turn determine the depth of the sill. Meaning that the sill will be defined by the formula "Wall thickness - Offset".

Any insights are greatly appreciated.

You can dimension from either face of the wall but the thickness is not available.

BTW - "Wall thickness - Offset" ... Is just the offset thickness from the exterior wall face so why the formula?

I think this image is the best way of explaining it. I need the pink sweep which makes up the interior window frame to be defined by Wall thickness (yellow) minus Offset (Blue) and Frames (Green).

Since the frames' width is locked in with the offset, I really just need the pink sweep to react to the offset.

My best advice is to change your process on wall hosted items.  Creating a family withing the wall often creates associations you don't want.

I advise people to create a location ref plane well away from the wall and model your elements around that.  In your case, I would place it like 1' away from the wall on the inside.

Add a setback dimension from the exterior face of the wall to this reference plane.  (This parameter will be changed later.)  Now model all elements that should be controlled by this parameter around the ref plane.  Model your trim around the face of the wall and back to your window.  Flex it by changing the setback parameter.

Thank you very much. Got it working! Wondering what happens if I need to add an external sill to it but we'll get to that later.
