hi,

i am using revit structure 2011 and i have been working around with a representation issue.

as you can see on the attached image the beam doesnt completely joins  automatically with the column, and i have to do it manually.

on the picture this happens only with the vertical beam but not with the one horizontally

i have been working around with the settings and nothing. i would really apreciate the help

thanks in advance

1. Always make sure when you model the beams that you snap to the center / middle of the column and let the geometry do what it does.

2. Look up 'cutback' and what it does.

3. As per the attached image, every column has an imaginary box that goes around it. Then when beams and braces come into play the beam's Instance parameter for Start Extension and End Expension determine how to trim back the beam. In my case it is '-1/2". A positive Extension will push the beam into the box. A negative pullsl the beam away from the box.

If you clcik the a beam in this case, you can also control the Extensions with the triangular grips. Note that if you do so it will change the instance properties of the beam.

Hope this helps.
