I have a wall with windows & a multiply split face surface. When a paint material is applied across the region where the
windows are, the windows are no longer transparent & the paint material in this region is now within the glass area of the
windows. PLatform is Revit Structure 2011.
Because of the multiple splits, I believe that the split face is the way to go here...
All insight appreciatted.

Only material faces get painted when you do this..... So you have something else happening. I don't believe the split is misbehaving.
We sometimes use thin objects. Like for tile floors - walls. Then they can be manipulated easier than split faces.
