I'm currently making a barn, and no barn is complete without a weather vane on top. However, I cannot seem to place it on the very top edge of my roof. Im not sure how to go about doing this because the top edge isn't a true work plane. Im very new to revit and thank you in advance.

Did you make the weather vane? Does it need to be hosted to a face or a plane? You can create a reference plane at the point where you want the weather vane to go and host it to that plane. Photos are always helpful along with as much helpful information as possible.

Hello KposK17. I am very new to Revit as well and I had a similar problem placing items on my roof as well but I found that you have to make sure you work in the ceiling plan level 3 and create a third elevation at the very top of the roof in order to work in the top plane. But I could be wrong

If it is a work plane based family, simply add a new reference plane and set it.

Go to an elevation or section view ... home tab ... pick ref plane and draw it... Very hard to do.
