This has nothing to do with work sharing.

If you want to link the building into the site, you can not have the building file open, just the site.   Then from the insert tab, pick link Revit and find your file.  If you have work sharing enabled in this site project, then the file will come in in the currently assigned workset but it can always be moved to a different workset.

PAY ATTENTION to where it comes in.  Origin to origin may not be what you want and you may have to move the linked file if it isn't right.

HI and thank you for the reply...  i will tell you the key problems rather than explain the process i took to fix this problem

i did do as you told me i closed the model file and only open the new site file, the problem i found out is the model file is set to (RTE) project template and not into a project ( thats why i couldnt see the model file while i was on the new site file to link the model in. WHICH IS THE KEY ISSUE FOR MY PROBLEM)

The Golden Question is HOW to to change from being a project template (RTE) into a project (RVT) file, so i can link the model to my site easy or even enable my workset aswell ?????

i tried going to the model file than select  the ribbon view tab/view template/ template setting but had no clue there????

many thanks in advance you been a great help

---------i cant never say i know revit----------

Create a new project and use that template file.  Now you have a project file.

Go back and fix your template and delete this erroneously created template.
