I'm currently working on a project with two separate structural grids: one for an existing building and another for a new high-rise I'm designing on top of it. Due to the nature of the two buildings' interaction, both new and existing are within the same model. The problem is that when I place walls in the new building, the temporary dimensions measure to the nearest datum point. This is as often a grid line for the building below as it is to a nearby wall.
Is there a way I can tell Revit to ignore a set of grid lines? Or since the existing building columns will not be changing, am I better off deleting these grid lines and limiting the grids to the new construction? Any advice anyone may have would be helpful. Thanks.
Chris

Put the grids on two seperate worksets and turn off the unwanted for normal work.
