I am making a door schedule and want to override my room name in the schedule without changing it on my plan.  Because of space limitations i have some corridors labeled as "corr." on the plans but would like to have them read "corridor" in the schedules.  Is there a way to make a text override parameter for the room? I know I could make a text parameter and type all the room names in but there has to be (i hope) a way to just have an override option.

You can't over-ride a room name in a schedule.

We have two different room tags...actually several types.  One tag reads the normal room name.  A different tag type reads an abbreviated room name.  We change the tag in plans where required but use the full name in schedules.

Just assign a new shared parameters to rooms in the project and modify your tag adding a type that swaps out the name for the shared parameter Abbrev. Name ... NOTE - You have to create the shared parameter first.
