Hello,

I am trying to create a 'raised' decal on a building face. I have tried manipulating the bump pattern and bump amount in the Decal attributes without success. The text box that describes the Bump Pattern states that you can "use dark and light areas of the image to specify raised and lowered areas..". This is exactly what I'd like to do, but I'm obviously missing something. Is there a straightforward way of doing this? See attached.

thanks

Are you just trying to have the letters raised or the whole decal?  If you are trying to raise the whole decal you will have to add a small portion of wall to the back of the decal.  Decals are still 2D objects and wont show an actual depth.  You could also use Model Text to get some depth to your letters

I was hoping to raise just the letters. i like your suggestion about model text but would have to match font which may be custom in this case. that may be the way to go though

You are using bumps in a manner they were not meant for.  Sorry, but I don't think this will work.  You can load a dwg into a family and use that linework to create a 3D element.
