I am working on a project with 4 different buildings (apartments, condos, a hotel and a convention centre) that will be built in a number of phases. I have never created a multi building file in Revit and have a few questions. From what I have read, it is easiest to set up a site file that has all the buildings (in separate files) linked to it. Is this the best way?
Assuming it is, do i make each building file central then load those central files into the site file...which is also central?
How do phases play into it? The condo is 1 building but will be built in 3 phases. Phase 1 of the project is 1 part of the condo as well as the apartment building. am I able to use phases from the linked files in the site file into which they are linked?
I am not sure how well i explained that, so let me know if it needs to be clarified.
Thanks for the help

You are correct on files and linking.
You would need to be more descrptive on your phases. These could be done as Revit phases or Design Options.
Are the phases just which building is first?
Will you be demoing items in one phase to do the next phase?
Will phases be in seperate documents or all in one?

The phases are just which building is going to be created first. now that i think about it i could probably just unload one or more of the files when I want to show an early phase of the project.
I was planning on having the three phases of the condo all in 1 file.

Since you are linking the files, each building would be a seperate project with the site linked in as well as the other projects if they would exist. Keep the links on seperate worksets so they can be turned of globally.
