So Im designing a canopy for a school project and the structure consists of 6 structural profiles similar to a roof truss where the interior profiles are lofted from truss to truss creating the canopy. My problem is that I am using the blend tool to use the linework from the trusses to make the loft but each of the trusses are at a slightly different angle and it wont allow me to select differnt planes for the first profile and the second.

Is there..

A. A better way to loft two profiles that are slightly off parallel to each other?

B. If I make it in Rhino and import it, how can I use it in a way that allows me to apply a material to it so that I can still do shading and renderings?

Keep in mind that this loft is meant to be cloth so Im looking for which ever way would allow me to make it look the closest to that for final renderings and output.

Thanks!

Create that in "Conceptual Mass" then you can select two different work planes for that "Blend"...

Watch the images....

I see. So the tool has different capabilities in conceptual mass versus in a family?

Did you try it in a family?

yea thats the first thing i did. I have all of the linework that I used for each of the frames layed out in a new family but had no luck. now Im wondering how im going to get the linework into a conceptual mass file. it didnt seem to want to import last night as a family. maybe a simple copy and paste will work. Ill have to see when I get home.
