I have drawn a detail in one file and want to make it possible to paste it into future projects, like a block in Autocad. It is only 2d. Can someone point me in the right direction or to a tutorial. Thanks, Puzzle.

you will need to create it as a detail item (new family --> metric detal component) but you won't be able to copy from your project and paste into your new family. what I would do (being the easiest way) is to export to dwg, than you can import your detail when ever you want. anyone got a better way? If the detail is just pure Revit drafting lines, then I would make a group out of those lines, rename the group something meaninful then export the group out of your project to a standard location as an .rvg file. (File>Save to Library>Save Group) In the future you can load the .rvg file into a new project and place into a drafting view. You could also pre-place the group into your template file if it occurs in every project of the same type. If however you want to make a detail component that can be used to embelish model based details with a particular 2D component you created, then yes eldados is correct. You could also use the group created from drafting lines in a model based detail as embelishment as well. The group for example could contain just the typical notes and leaders you use on a particular type of detail, or it could contain the 2D drafting lines, or combination there of. HTH Tom
