I understand the basic roof commands and have been able to do dormers without any issue in the past.  However, I have a roof design which has me scratching my head on how to properly model.  The attached image is made with two square roofs of the same pitch, size, etc.  I am trying to figure out how to remove the internal portions of the roof where they cross for living space.

I am using Revit LT 2013

Thank you

One way to do it is with Roof by footprint with 8 slope arrows.

I had tried that method originally and for some reason it couldn't create the roof.  The exact wording of the error I don't recall.  My solution was to model each gable in the same method you showed and then join the 4 gables together.  Definitely more complicated, but achieved the result.  Thank you.
