If you are a new user to both Reivt and Viz, I would say no. If you are new to Revit, but are experienced with Viz then yes. The rendering engine inside of Revit is Accurender by Rober McNeil and Associates. It gets a lot of bad press from a lot of Revit users as not doing a very good job, but I think it does pretty well for most users. Accurender in Revit is straightforward and does nice renderings of exteriors. It lack any global illumination so on interiors it can be problematic. Viz is a very powerful program which I myself am still learning. I've taken some classes in it and let me tell you about a deep program with menus and settings that go on forever. The Revit - Viz/Max combo is where I ultimately want to get to myself. I just don't think that trying to learn both programs at the same time would work. I think it is best to learn Revit first and then move onto Viz. Tom

I agree with Tom. I am evaluating Viz now and it is daunting. This is a very complex and powerful program but seems to be the right combination for Revit. While at AU I discussed this issue for my needs and the Revit/viz was the unanimous choice. I'm pretty familiar with Revit now so am comfrotable exploring Viz. I would not try both since rendering is not something you vitally need for your architecture. Once you get your feet on the ground with Revit, certainly try Viz
