How would you go about adding 2" furring to an existing wall? The best we can come up with is this: Add a 2" wall and place openings in the wall where doors and windows occur.

To take this one step farther....I want to add 'c' section girts to the face of a structural colum, I'd use bracing members but i need them to go vertically & horizontally as we need to frame o/h doors. They seem to constrain to the gridline (horiz & vert) or to the col. face (diag)
