I am drawing up an existing building. I am currently drawing up the basement. I am trying to attach the walls to the ground floor level and revit won't let me, it's telling me my top constraint is "invalid for that level" which is absolutely not the case. I don't want to be forced to draw walls and then change the constraints later. That defeats one of the many benefits of Revit. This has never happened to me before, what is going on?! Yes, I have checked that the levels clearly indicate the ground floor is above the basement level and that my view range is correct. What am I missing or is this a very unfortunate glitch in the upgrade?

I had a similar problem....I think when drawing foundations, the top and bottom constraints would be switched. You would think that your base constraint should be the bottom of the foundation and that your top constraint would be your finished floor level. However, in this case, especially if you use the pre-made foundation walls in Revit, your base constraint would be your finished floor level and the wall would go down from there to your "top" constraint of the bottom of the foundation. what I did to get around that is just to make a new basic wall type, such as a 12" concrete wall, and then used my base constraint as the bottom of the foundation and my top constraint as the finished floor level. Others with a deeper Revit knowledge might be able to provide a more technical response or better solution, but I have found that this solution works for me. HTH

The best way to control top and base of the Wall is to modify the Constraints...
