Hey so i have downloaded some windows -I will upload the window file at the bottom- and whenever i try to assign a glass material to the pane of glass it make the whole window, frame and all glass. Then when I try to apply a material to the frame, like alum., it makes the glass pane alum. What do i need to do in the family to assign an independent material to glass pane?

This is in 2013 Revit Student Edition.

I know this question might be noobish but I'm still in High School and don't have much experience in Revit.

Both your frame and your glass are assigned "by category" in the family.  Edit the family and set the glass to the glass material in the family.

when i did that it made the window frame glass and the pane glass. How do i make them independent from one another?

As I said, go into the family (NOT THE PROJECT) and assign different materials as appropriate.
