Currently my project is set up to show existing walls as gray solid lines and demo walls as black hidden lines. If I have a wall that is existing, but has a portion of it being demolished there is no separating line between the portions staying and the ones going. Is there a way to have a line depict the cut between existing and demolition as to say that this is where the demo begins? I have attached an image of the current situation...thanks!

Split the wall and disallow join and there should be (2) lines seperating the walls.

That works nicely...but I notice there is no easy way to do so for adding doors to an existing wall without losing accuracy in the model. Any way around this perhaps? Thanks for the response

What loss of accuracy are you talking about?  We never have any.

Well to be sure that I am doing the first part correctly do I want to navigate to Manage>Geometry>Unjoin Geometry and then pick the option to disallow joining? If this is correct then there is no way to use this tool at a location of a new door/window in an existing wall... So I would then need to split the wall at each end of the door to be able to demo it causing more work and more room for error. Am I missing perhaps an easier way around this?

Huh?

Your original question was only about demolishing a portion of a wall.  To create an opening for a door, just add the door in the new phase.  It will demo what it needs and will show accordingly in demo plan views.  No need to split the wall here.
