I found a thread that was 7 years old and I am hoping that there is a solution now.
Is there a way to toggle off the "highlighting" of an object when it is not visible (see attached jpeg)? The cabinet is behind the wall. I would like to be able to just pick / highlight items that are only visible on the screen. Not cabinets behind a wall, beams below the concrete deck, etc...

Use your shift / tab key to remove this item from your selection set.

Hmmm I don't think so, I don't remember anything to do what you want, sorry... If there is any work around I'm all hears...
