how to demolish part of existing pitched roof for insertion of new rooms or floor structure

unforunately you can't demolish part of a roof. You'll have to split the roof and demolish the area not required. This is how I have done it in the past but I am far from an expert at Revit.

Thank you "puzzle' - but how do you split the roof - what view do you have to be in to use the split command & do you use split region or surface ? thanks

just create 2 roofs and demolish the one you need...
