Hi,

I am using Revit 2013 and I am having trouble placing a stair light strip on the surface of a wall - instead it gets placed on the core structure of the wall and hence no light is shown because it's covered up by the insulation layer.

However if I place it on another wall with almost identical properties apart from thickness it gets placed on the surface correctly, as you can see in the attached screenshot.

I have played around with the wall type for the one on the right and if I adjust the thickness then the light will end up on the surface properly but I don't want to do that as this is an external wall and is set correctly as far as the dimensions are concerned.

I have attached the family for the light - is there something in there that anyone can help me out with as far as being able to handle being placed on thicker walls, and getting placed correctly on the surface?

Regards,

MM

Your answer lies in this : "....almost identical properties apart from thickness..."

Try editing the light fixture family - increase the host wall thickness to the same as the thick wall in your model.  If all moves out, your good to go.  If not, then you will have to fix the family.
